Wind Lane™ was created to solve a real trucking problem: weather information is everywhere, but it is not always organized around the direction a truck is actually traveling.

A general weather app can tell you the wind speed in a city. A radar app can show storms across a region. A commercial GPS can show the route. Wind Lane is designed to sit in between those tools by helping the driver understand wind and visibility hazards along the direction of travel.
Wind Lane is not a routing app. It does not replace a truck GPS, road signs, weather warnings, company policy, or driver judgment. Instead, it provides route-aware hazard awareness to help drivers make more informed decisions.

This also helps keep the route arrow pointed in the correct general direction.

How It Works

Wind Lane uses your current location and a selected waypoint to understand the direction you are traveling. It then checks nearby weather observation stations and focuses on conditions that are more relevant to your route.

The app evaluates wind direction, wind speed, gusts, and other weather observations to help identify conditions that may matter to a high-profile vehicle.
For example, a 35 mph wind may not mean the same thing in every situation. A headwind, tailwind, and crosswind all affect a truck differently. Wind Lane is designed to help highlight the hazards that matter most to truck drivers.

Route-Aware Hazard Awareness

Wind Lane uses route-aware hazard logic to help keep the information focused. Instead of simply showing the nearest weather station, the app looks at stations along or near the direction of travel.

That means the app is trying to answer a more useful question:
“What conditions are ahead of me on the route I’m driving?”

Waypoint Guidance

For best results, the waypoint should usually be your next major turning point, not your final destination.

For example, if you are driving from Denver toward Oklahoma City, you may not want to enter Oklahoma City as the waypoint right away. If your next major turn is around Salina, Kansas, use Salina first. That helps Wind Lane keep the route direction and hazard awareness more closely matched to the road you are actually driving.
